Beerakaya(Sinqua)pappu

Following is the yummy yummy Beerakaya pappu recipe

Ingredients:

Toor dal 1 cup; pressure cook it & keep it aside

  • Beerakaya- 2 medium size, peel the edges, wash & cut them into small pieces
  • Onions – 1 fist full( cut into small pieces)
  • Garlic – 6-8 cloves, peel the skin & cut into small pieces
  • Dhaniya powder – 1tsp
  • Methi & Jira powder – 1/2tsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1tsp
  • Turmeric – 1/4tsp
  • Salt – according to your taste
  • Lemon – 1/2 piece or adjust according to your taste

For tadka:

  • Oil – 4tsps
  • Mustard seeds – 1tsp
  • Jira – 1/2tsp
  • Hing – 3pinches
  • Redchillies – 2
  • Curry leaves – 10 to 15

Procedure:

On the stove & put wide kadai, add oil. Add tadka start with adding mustard seeds & let it splutter, then add rest of the ingredients. After adding curry leaves add garlic, onions, saute for 2mins. Then add beerakaya pieces, salt, turmeric, red chillie powder let it cook for 5mins, then add dhania powder, jira & methi powder mix well & cook for another 5mins. After vegetable is cooked, transfer cooked dal & mix well, check the taste & adjust if needed. Lastly squeeze lemon/lime juice. Garnish with cilantro! Yummy! You can serve with roti or white rice. Enjoy!!
