Fish Pulusu with Cranberries!

First time I tried fish pulusu with cranberries & guess what it turned out so yummy!!! Recipe is  pretty simple. Let’s start!

Ingredients:

  • Oil:  3 -4tsps
  • Mustard seeds – 1/4tsp
  • Jeera – 1/4tsp
  • Methi seeds – 8
  • Hing – 6splashes
  • Curry leaves – 10-15
  • Onion – 1/2 (cut into long slices)
  • Green chilies – 5(slit them)
  • Ginger garlic paste – 1tsp
  • Tomatoes – 1(cut into small pieces
  • Bell peppers(optional) – 1 (small size, cut into small pieces)
  • Cranberries paste – 4tsps
  • Dhania powder – 1tsp
  • Jeera & Methi powder – 1tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4tsp
  • Red chili powder – 2tsps
  • Water – 2 cups
  • Salt – according to your taste
  • Jaggery powder – 2tsps
  • Tilapia fillets – 4(cut each fillet into 4 pieces)

Procedure:

  1. Put wide pan on medium flame. Add oil, once the oil is heated, add the items listed in ingredients one by one & saute in between.
  2. Once tomatoes and bell peppers are cooked add  the ingredients from: cranberry paste until red chili powder, saute for few mins.
  3. Then add water &  salt. Let water comes to boil & evaporate little bit.
  4. Next check the taste & adjust if anything is needed. Then gently add tilapia fillets into step 3, add garam masala (1/tsp), jaggery powder,  mix it.
  5. Let fish cook on sim for 8mins, then garnish with cilantro.

You can serve with hot hot white rice or rotis!!

Note: Wash & cook cranberries without water, once the mixture reaches room temperature, pulse the mixture & store in refrigerator.

Spicy Chicken Curry!!

Who want’s to eat spicy & yummy chicken curry?? Alright lets start making it..!

Ingredients:

  • Chicken – 2lbs(wash)
  • Ginger garlic paste – 3tsps
  • Onion – 1 medium size; cut into small pieces
  • Green chillies – 5 (slit them)
  • Turmeric – 1tsp
  • Red chilly powder – 3tsp
  • Salt – according to your taste
  • Tamarind – 1goose berry size, soak & take juice of it
  • Oil – 5tsp
  • Dhania powder – 2tsps
  • Cilantro – 4tsps

Make paste of the following by adding some water:

  • 3tsp poppy seeds(cuscus)
  • 2-lavang
  • 2- elachi
  • small piece- nutmeg
  • Jeera – 1tsp
  • 1/4tsp – fennel seeds
  • raw coconut – 2tsps
  • Anese – half flower
  • Dalchini – 2 medium size sticks

Procedure:

Take wide pan, on the stove once , add oil once the oil gets hot add onions,green chillies & mix well, let it cook until onions turn light brown, then add ginger garlic paste, stir well, let it cook for 3mins, add chicken pieces, turmeric, dhania powder salt, mix & let it cook for 10mins, add red chillie powder mix well & cook for another 2mins. Next add the poppy seeds paste, water, tamarind juice mix well,  check the taste & adjust if anything needs to be adjusted, put the stove on medium heat, cook for another 5-10mins(until chicken is cooked). Once it is cooked add cilantro!! See how simple is that! You can serve with rotis/biriyani or white rice!! Enjoy!!

 

Fish pulusu!!

Wanna try simple & fast version of fish pulsu? Then you are at right place!! Let’s start!!

Ingredients:

  • Tilapia – fillets or whole fish cut into curry size pieces – 6 pieces
  • Tamarind – 2 lemon size (soak) & grind into fine paste
  • Tomatoes – 2, cut into small pieces, microwave for 3mins & make puree & keep aside
  • Onions – 1 big, cut into small pieces &green chillies – 3 (or add more if needed), cut them,put both of them into microwave safe bowl, add 1stp oil & cook for 3mins & pulse 2 times & keep aside
  • Ginger garlic paste – 2tsp
  • Bellpeppers – 1, cut into small pieces (optional)
  • Dhania powder – 2tsp
  • Methi seeds – 4
  • Mustard seeds – 1tsp
  • Jira – 1/4 tsp
  • Hing – 2pinches
  • Curry leaves – 10 to 15 leaves
  • Red chilli powder – 2tsp or add more if needed
  • Salt – according to your taste

Procedure:

Take wide pan & add 5tsp of oil, let it heat. Add mustard seeds, jira, hing, methi seeds, curry leaves, saute for 1min. Then add onion & chilies paste saute, until it turns light brown, then add ginger garlic paste, bell peppers & saute for a min or 2, then add tamarind paste, tomato puree, some water, chilli powder, dhania powder, salt, mix well and let it cook for sometime, once the gravy starts thickening, check the taste and adjust if anything needed. After checking the taste, add tilapia pieces coat the gravy on top, mix gently & simmer the stove for another 15mins. Once fish is completely cooked, garnish with cilantro. That’s it!!Simple! Serve with hot hot white rice! Note: It tastes much better if it stays overnight! But people like me can’t wait…;) Enjoy!
