Tomato pappu(dal)

Simple tomato pappu recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Kandhi pappu (Toor dal) 1&1/2 cup- wash it
  • Tomatoes – medium size – 6; wash & cut them
  • Green chillies – 4
  • Jira – 1/4tsp& Garlic – 4 pods, mash them together
  • Onion – 1/4th – cut into small pieces
  • Red chillie powder – 1tsp
  • Turmeric- 1/4tsp
  • Water – 3cups

Tadka

  • Oil -2tsps
  • Mustard seeds – 1tsp
  • Jira – 1/2tsp
  • Hing – 3 splashes
  • Red chillies – 2
  • Curry leaves – 15

Procedure:

 

Take pressure cooker, add all the ingredients listed in “Ingredients” section & pressure cook it for 3 vessels. Once it cools off, add salt & mash dal. Take small kadai for tadka, add all ingredients one by one listed in “Tadka” section, fry them for 3mins & transfer tadka to dal, mix well & add lemon juice according to your taste!! Yummmo!! You can eat with hot hot white rice & ghee 😀 or with rotis!! Enjoy!!
